A selection of ten photographs from Florian Hirzingers series Garāža are now held in the collection of the Museum Joanneum in Graz, Austria. Initially, the have been presented in an exhibition at Gallery Stross in April 2018. A few months later, they were acquired by the Museum Joanneum for the photography collection in their Neue Galerie Graz.

Garāža

Garāža is the Latvian word for garage. It is also the title of a new photography series, showing old garage doors in the run-down suburbs of Riga, Latvia. Some are made of metal, others of wood. Some of them seem beautiful, others vibrant or even dilapidated. Apart from these superficialities, all doors share the same shape and size. Nevertheless, each of them is unique and hides a different story we will never know.
